Admission of Members
Any person enrolled as the Advocate in the Orissa State Bar Council or such other similar Council affiliated to Bar Council of India, desiring to become the member of the Association may apply in prescribed format of Application (Sch-1) to the Secretary of the Association for admission along with the prescribed undertaking and the fees of membership in shape of Demand Draft payable in favor of Bhubaneswar Bar Association along with the copy of the License. After proper scrutiny, Admission of the member may be approved and accepted by the Executive Committee of the Association. The new members shall be introduced at least by two members of Bhubaneswar Bar Association.50% discount from the membership fee will be allowed to the physically handicapped lawyers intending to become a member, subject to production of his/her appropriate certificate issued by competent authority. The Physically handicapped applicant must be 70% physically disabled to get the Benefit. While applying for membership, the Advocate has to give the following undertaking:
- I do hereby undertake that if, after my admission as a member of the Association, I accept any fully or part time service or engage myself in any trade, business or profession (unless exempted any act or rules), I shall forthwith inform the association of my such employment or engagement and shall cease to practice as an Advocate.
- I further do hereby undertake that I shall not accept any employment which, in the opinion of the Association, is derogatory to the status of an Advocate.
- I shall uphold the constitution and the laws of the land. I shall confirm to the standard of professional conduct and etiquette laid down by the Orissa State Bar Council and the Bar Council of India which I have read; I shall faithfully discharge every other obligation cast one me by The Advocates Act, 1961 and the rules framed there under and by the rules and regulation of the Bye-Law of this Association which I have read. I shall inform the Association of any change in my address. I shall cease to be member in case of violation/deviation of any of these undertakings. I do hereby declare that the facts stated above in this application are true and correct and that the documents filed by me are genuine.
